How Green is Your Bond?

It’s great to see the traction in the market around green bonds. It is a burgeoning market around the globe, seeking yield by doing well through investments that are Green. So the obvious next question is “What does green mean?” The definitions today are very loose – metrics aren’t standardized, so one might think it’s a bit of green washing. But that is not always the case. If you saw my prior post on measuring impact, you’d know that this is an area that is ripe for picking a standard. These bonds do some great work in the underlying investment. Let’s keep the trend going, and refine the measurements so it is all aligned. When we hit a Trillion with metrics there will be some major excitement. I believe this is doable in the next few years. Great for investors, and good for the world.
